Honda Marine made big news when the released the all-new BF350 V8 outboard, but with their V6 creating 250 hp at the max, that left a big gap between their top-end offerings. How do you get more power out of a proven platform like Honda’s V-6 BF250? Call the folks at McLaren engineering and invite them to team up. That’s exactly what Honda did, and the net result of tweaking the ECU, changing the camshaft, and enhancing valve lift and timing was an additional 50 horses. The engine also features a dual channel indirect air-induction system in the cowl, to improve airflow while directing moisture away from the throttle body. Meanwhile, Multi-port programmed fuel injection eases starting and boosts fuel efficiency.

McLaren wrung 50 additional horsepower out of the proven Honda V6 outboard platform.

For now, look for the M300 to appear on new boats being sold by Honda’s OEM partners. Which boats they’ll be offered on hasn’t been determined as we go to press, but Honda says they come in 20”, 25”, and 30” shaft lengths and will be showing up soon on everything from lake-bound pontoons to ocean-going center consoles. They’ve also made it clear that the M300 delivers the same unusually low sound levels and high fuel economy Honda fans expect, and the company states that the M300 can get up to 3.5 mpg at cruise when burning 90 octane fuel.

The Mclaren M300 will package with Honda's Intelligent Shift and Throttle system, and can integrate with Dometic's Optimus 360 system for multiple-engine joystick control. Added bonus: the M300 will be backed up by their full five-year transferrable non-declining warranty.
